Rajaram has just been confirmed (or made permanent) as a clerk in Footprint Shoes. He goes back to his chawl and relays this news to all the residents there. He admires his neighbour Sandhya and just when he is back in his room in an ecstatic mood, Sandhya comes to borrow some milk. He says he can spare just a little bit. Sandhya responds with
"Raajaaraam jii, bahot shukriyaa"
Rajaram sees her as his love interest and politely protests,
"‘Kitni baar kaha hai mujhe Raajaaraam Jii mat kahaa karo!’
Sandhya responds with this great line
‘Kya karoon... aapkii personality mein hi “Jii” hai…’
"क्या करूँ... आपकी पर्सनालिटी में ही 'जी' है "
Early on in my career, I found that most of my batchmates were treated as buddied by business associates. But I was always referred to with the suffix 'ji'. I once even asked an important associate why he did not call me just by my name. He said something similar to what Sandhya tells Rajaram. Hence my connect with this line is greater than otherwise.
