Film: Coffee with D
Year of release: 2017
Spoken by: Arnab Ghosh (Sunil Grover)
Spoken to: His wife Parul (Anjana Sukhani)
Dialogue writer: Aabhar Dadhich
Arnab is a senior editor in a TV news channel. His low ratings force his boss Roy (Rajesh Sharma) to deliver him a two month ultimatum. If the ratings do not pick up, he could be transferred to the 7pm to 8 pm slot from his current prime time slot.
This forces him to concoct a plan to interview the notorious don D. When he comes home to his four month pregnant wife and breaks this news, she consoles him. She asks him not to worry. But he expresses his desperation through this dialogue to his wife:
"Life aise hi loan pe chal rahi hai"...
"Jaldi kuchh na kiya to Toyota se Tata pe aanaa paDega"
"जल्दी कुछ न किया तो टोयोटा से टाटा पे आना पड़ेगा "
Tata launched Nano in 2008 with great fanfare as a "lakhTakiyaa" car or a 1 lac Rs car. However, the upward mobility of the Indian lower middle class rejected the idea and even at its peak the car failed to scale the magic number of 1 lac units in a year. The car stopped manufacturing a year after the release of this movie. And though Tata has some very good premium sedans on offer, this dialogue kind of sums up the damage Nano caused to the brand.
